Congratulations to our 2017 Scholarship Winners!

Every year, at the annual Springfest of Music concert, Warren County Community Singers is proud to award a scholarship to an outstanding Warren County high school senior who is pursuing a college education in music arts. This year we had two winners. At the 2017 Springfest of Music, the George K. Warne Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Victoria Esposito and Andrew Van Dongen.

Victoria Esposito

Victoria is a senior at Notre Dame High School and resides in Stewartsville. She is driven by an intense love of music and stage performance. Last summer, Victoria was one of the youngest of only 24 students selected to participate in the Circle in the Square Theatre School in NYC, where she devoted long hours for many weeks crafting her skills in singing, acting, and dancing. Her culminating cabaret performance became a defining moment when she knew that her future needed to be as an artist on the stage.

Victoria has been very active throughout her high school years in theatre, musical productions, choir, solo singing, and church music. She is also a talented athlete and has been involved in sports programs, including basketball, soccer, and track. Victoria has achieved academic excellence as she is ranked in the top 10% of her graduating class and has been a member of the National Honor Society. She has volunteered her time in numerous activities, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, youth choir director, Links of Love, Community Day, and Pro-Life Club.

Victoria has been accepted to Kean University in Union, NJ, with an intended major in Theatre Performance.

Andrew Van Dongen
Andrew resides with his family in Hackettstown, and is a senior at Hackettstown High School. He has nurtured his love of singing and choral music since the 4th grade. Andrew has fully immersed himself in his high school's choral and instrumental music programs. He has sung in the Concert and Select Choirs, as well as participated all 4 years in the Spring Musical. The list of notable Honor Choirs, all requiring auditions, in which he has sung multiple years is impressive: Morris Area Choral Directors Association, North Jersey School Music Association, NJ All-State Honor Choir, American Choral Directors Association All-Eastern Honor Choir, and the Harmonium Choral Society.

Andrew has played in the Concert, Brass, Jazz, and Marching Bands, and in addition has been a member of the Wind Ensemble. He has demonstrated leadership qualities in many areas of student life, including brass section leader, student director of the choir, student government, class officer, and blood drive captain. He has been a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. Andrew is also an athlete, participating in Varsity fencing, soccer, and track.

Andrew will attend Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, as a music major. His ambitions are to teach at the high school or college level as well as compose.
The scholarship audition is open to all high school seniors who live in Warren County and who are planning to study music in college. Applications are taken in March, followed by an audition at a later date. An accompanist will be available for those who request one on the application.
